Song of the Day: Rusty - Empty Cell

Okay, so for those of you that know me, I've become a huge fan of the show Kenny vs. Spenny on Showcase Sundays at 9:30PM EST (a shameless plug). And thanks to my boy Jay-Z, I am the proud owner of Kenny vs. Spenny - Speny - Season 1 (2003). And... to add to my addiction, Matt has been able to record most of season 2 with his self-made TIVO (oh, and if Matt is reading, I'm holding you to it that WE start a band with the name a proposed today over breakfast).

Anyways, getting back to Kenny vs. Spenny... You can buy cool Kenny Swag off of his site or read up on his blog. Support the demented talent by the name of Kenny Hotz. By the way, doesn't Kenny resemble Vince Vaughn just a little bit?

Okay, so I went on a link frenzy. Oh well...

Song of the Day: Electric Light Orchestra - Don't Bring me Down

Man, today has just been a craptastic day in general. So many things are racing through my head and it's starting to gr
ow on me. It's always good to think about things and analyze them, but when does it become too much and overplayed? To put my mind at ease, I decided to buy something online today. Everyone I know has had a pretty successful experience purchasing off the interweb, so why can't I? I decided the best option was to pick a well-known and established retail outlet with a purchasing portal. So after selecting the items I wanted, filling out several pages of personal information, I was denied access to an online purchase because I was not a resident of the United States. Seeing that this is highly illogical, I decided to call their customer care to clarify matters. So, after another few minutes working through the automated phone service, a service representative told me that if I didn't have a mailing and billing address in the US that I would not be able to shop online. Is it just me or does this just defeat the purpose of online purchasing? Online shopping is supposed to be one avenue or global business. Fuck, even Joe Schmoes can sell things to people across the world via E-bay, yet I can't buy a pair of shoes from a major retail outlet. I mean, why even dedicate efforts to e-commerce when it cannot service your customers from a neighbouring country? I would think Canada is prosperous enough where its population would have the purchasing power to attract e-business merchants to market here. FUCK YOU BANANA REPUBLIC for wasting my time. So instead of relieving stress, I'm worse off than I started.

The real reason why I'm so agitated is due to an uncertainty that has been resonating in my mind body and spirit. It's been eating at me for a long time now and has been wearing me down mentally and emotionally whereby I could make a fatal mistake jus to have this uncertainty go away. Recently, there has been an opportunity or chance of resolution where I can put this all behind me. To be honest, I'm scared/frustrated/angry that I cannot take the next step in ending the uncertainty. Parts of me think that I'm a chicken for not ending this uncertainty, but I really want to do it on my terms. There's a major level of sensitivity here where if I push too much, I could make the uncertainty even worse. Aiiyyya, the burdens of being an adult (whether I like it or not) ...

Song of the Day: Ok Go - A Million Ways

So tonight I had the great[sarcasm] oppurtunity to see a rock shwo at the Starlight. I mention the sarcasm because as per usual, the crowd was uninterested and diapproving of the musiscal acts on stage. After the brief two seconds of clapping, the crowd drew dead silent. I mean I could hear Narmala breathing. Fucking ridiculous... I feel so bad for the bands up there. I mean, the show was sold out and all, so the interest was there from a promoter's perspective, but the band was seeing about 100 random pylons on the dancefloor with a couple of exceptions. I know I should be supporting promoters who bring great acts to the area, but I'm fed up with this fan interaction. If there any shows in any neighbouring city, I am going there... I dont mind the drive if I can dance to a song I like without pissing off the people around me for bumping into them.

Anyways, the show was good. OK Go opened and mowed through a solid set with a sweet cover of Electric Light Orchestra's "Don't Bring Me Down". The covered owned man! And for the closing finale of the Canadian tour for this Chicago band, they cleared the stage as if they were done. Then out of nowhere, this happened! I was screaming like a girl from a NKOTB concert!

Controller.Controller were the closer and Nirmala Basnayake rocked as per usual. Again, it's too bad for her and her bandmates to see such a disinterested crowd. We really do love and appreciate your music!--- Ok Go ---

I've gots my invite

Song of the Day: Nerf Herder - Sorry

I just received my invitation to my cousin's wedding as well as a bio of all the people in the
wedding party. I was fortunate enough to the make the cut as I'm in this wedding as an usher. When I saw 'usher' as my name, I couldn't help but to think of Usher; the Nubian prince whose wowed audiences with his flashy dance moves and chiseled physique. Those are some hefty shoes to fill. I better get out the abmaster and start pumping away before the big date. I also heard Paula Abdul is doing some contracting work on the side from her 9 to 5 gig with American Idol. All this aside, I was pretty flattered that I was asked to be part of the wedding. As I look at the pamphlets from the invitation, there's a booklet of the peeps in the wedding party. It describes their relation to the couple and so on. As I flip through the pages, I get to the the section where the bride and groom describe my relationship with them... So here's what was written about me:

"Hung is remarkably sensitive and insightful cousin of the bride. He is a terrific listener, and I am in constant awe of his mastery of the Vietnamese language. Hung has a penchant for independent music; he always knows what's big long before the public does (i.e. Death Cab for Cutie). Our family no longer allows Hung to visit us over the holidays, as he is known to bring frigid Canadian ice storms with him.

Hung recently graduated from the university of Waterloo in Ontario Canada. He is employed by XXX, the company created the XXXXX (in my opinion, 1 of 3 of Canada's only exports; the others being great comedians and bad pop musicians). Nearly as much as he loves music, he enjoys making fun of "dirty Americans."
Now if you were able to get through all of that, imagine what kind of picture is painted of me from this eloquent passage. Please note that this wedding will be held in the heart of the Southern USA nonetheless.

First off, I "hate dirty Americans" -- No, I just hate my cousins!

Secondly, I'm "remarkably sensitive" -- I won't let you know what I think about
this one.

People are not going to want to talk to me after reading this bio. Sounds like I'm a tortured soul with a huge chip on my shoulder for redneck Americans along with a huge music collection of no-name bands. Man, this wedding will be interesting and I can't wait to show off my dance moves. hahaha. Six months to go, six months to go, six months to go...
